New X-Men has the better concepts and peaks to me ( the Cassandra storyline is the best out of the two runs). Astonishing X-Men is more consistent and the easier reread. I give the edge to Astonishing only due to accessibility(for myself). I love the material in New X-Men more- I just don't think it reads as smoothly as Astonishing.
Mutants need to be introduced as truly dangerous. The world has embraced enhanced individuals. Mutants need to have an “other” factor; a bogeyman element that makes people scared.
