I didn't make much as a food runner. Working 3-4 days a week I made about $400-$600 on my biweekly paycheck. Of course the amount you get paid will vary with mine. I worked in a upscale ish restaurant. I think food running is a growth step until you gain more confidence to serve. Yeah, that’s more than fair.

Front waiter is generally the more desirable position, typically filled by a restaurant's best servers, but it's no different than bussers, runners, hosts, dishwashers, or prep cooks who might also prefer different, higher-paying roles within a restaurant, or FOH staff "fighting" over better shifts, or better sections.

There are terrible customers but, there are terrible customers everywhere. At least in a fine dining establishment you are predominately waiting on people with money and they always tip well.

So about $23/hour net total comp.
