It depends on the gas station. At the one I usually go to, the pump does a pre-auth of $1 on my capital one card and lets me pump a full tank. That's come in handy a few times. At that same station my dasher direct card won't work at the pump with $50 on it, and doesn't ask me if it's credit or debit.

Worth depends on need of access of cash. Right now I think the dasher direct is doing 10 percent back on gas when it normally does 2 percent. Costco credit card gives 4 percent back on gas. Sams club credit card gives 5 percent back on gas. They also have cash back on other categories. Long term, other credit cards are better for rewards. Many other credit cards with similar perks.
