The xd is closer in size to the glock 19. It's a strange size, bigger than the 26 but smaller than the 19. The xd also has flush fitting 13 round mags. I've owned xd over the years but always go back to Glock. That being said, you can't go wrong for $400. Jun 5, 2010 · The Glock 19 and XD9 are both fantastic guns. There is nothing wrong with a grip safety just ask the 1911 folks. I prefer the Glock 19 over the XD9 but again both are good weapons. If this gun is primarily for her then go with what she feels more comfortable with. Both guns will get the job done. Maybe get the G19 now and the XD9 later.
