Hello, Finally just purchased my first 4x4 atv. I have always had sport quads. This one is a 2003 Prairie 360 in excellent shape. I got for a steal in my opinion. "The owner said it always ran great but started smoking so had the top end rebuilt by a local mechanic.The most common problem is that the shift rod is out of adjustment. It's probably moving too far towards the low gear and when it high it's not locked in all of the way. I am posting the adjustment diagram below. If adjusting it doesn't help you out then you know that chances are there are worn parts in the engine.
