Hello guys here is a step by step tutorial on how to change the oil on a Honda VTX 1300 C .....
Make sure you have removed both drain plugs and replaced your oil filter. Then replace with 4 quarts of oil. Replaced the water pump in about 5 hours...I wasn't going at it too hard and had several interruptions. Everything is bolted back up, except for the side cover (so I can check for leaks). With bike level and following Hondas idle 3-5 minutes then shut down and wait 3 minutes, push in dipstick but don't screw it in yady yady yada oil level appears to be above the top mark. Just changed mine with Castrol Synthetic 10W-40 and a Bosch oil filter. I used Mobil-1 75W-90 synthetic gear lube in the final drive. I did this with 1100 miles on the bike. I did the initial oil change and filter at 56 miles, and another oil change (no filter) at 400 miles; all with Dino oil.

I think if you had oil present in the exhaust pipes you would be blowing quite a bit of blue smoke. Rejet the bike and you should be fine. The rear end is designed that way, You will break the plug long before you damage the threads on the rear final drive. The plug is $6.00 to$7.00 and the O-ring is about $2.50. Fill final drive with 4 ounces of SAE 80 hypoid gear oil.
