Is this an adjustment problem in the lever or could it be a sign of something more serious? A month or so later I tried to shift into 4th, and I got a gear grind. That was progress. I worked with it a while and got it to go into 4th. Today, I use it frequently with no problems. My interpretation of the problem was that the PO never used 4th/8th and the rails built up a fine layer of rust and debris that prevented shifting. pogobill.
