Note also that your 2017 Forester manual states that the car's computers store event information if the automatic rear braking system is activated, so there will be a record in that ECU that it kicked in when you said it did and the specific radar sensor that reported an issue. Yep, those little black sensors are what assist with RAB. I remember gently removing some ice from one of mine and it started working again. There's also been a handful of time where they are just disabled for no reason, and if I turn off and turn the car back on they work fine. Regardless, good luck and I hope you get it worked out!
